Yes We Can't

James Bibbings, October 2nd, 2009

So it was just announced Chicago didn't win the Olympics... (YES!)  This is what happened shortly after:

This of course begs the question what has Obummer actually accomplished as President?  Healthcare - No, Iraq - No, Guantanamo - No, Economy - No, Olympics - No.  Massive Spending - Yes, Over Promising and Underdelivering On Everything Else - Yes, Yes, Yes.

I think when the President runs for re-election in three years he should keep his slogan "Yes We Can" and simply add an asterisks to the end of it which reads "like Barry Bonds."  If Democrats do it that way new bumper stickers won't have to be sent out, they can just send the asterisks.  That should make them look fiscally conservative and clever.  Here's to over promising and under delivering every, single, time.  But I digress I'm happy my city lost, I'm happy the US lost, if you read my post earlier you know why.  What was the point of bidding anyway?  Chicago has one of the highest violent crime rates in the country, has a dismal school system, and our public transit is woefully inadequate.  The money is so short here in fact that we have pot holes so large even baby Jessica would be scared coming into town.  I want to know the reason that the $50 million spent on the bid or the $3 billion promise to fund the games didn't go towards those things?  We'll probably never know but let's look on the bright side, after $50 million dollars we at least have some cool signs and a killer power point presentation to show off.

So what's the most biased of all media think about Obummer's latest failure?  See for yourself from the Tribune just a few moments ago:

"Chicago's first-round knockout in the voting for the 2016 Olympic Games presents a serious loss of face to President Barack Obama and Mayor Richard Daley, who each staked personal as well as political capital on the city's bid.

Obama, who had originally placed a priority on passage of healthcare reform over a trip to Copenhagen, was in the air returning to the United States from the International Olympic Committee voting site as his hometown was tossed out of consideration.

It was a worst-case scenario for the president, who was already facing criticism for getting involved in the effort even before the decision was made. Obama has found his public support slumping amid the controversial efforts to reform the health care system, the national recession and the war in Afghanistan.

Nationally, Republicans had been using Obama's choice to quickly fly to Copenhagen as an effort to help his "Chicago Fat Cat Friends." The GOP pointed out that the September unemployment for the country had risen to 9.8 percent while the president was trying to bring jobs to Chicago "seven years from now."

Here's to you Mr. President Guy, whose promises are always empty and efforts fall a bit short, we Stalinisticly salute you.
